Upon your arrival at Melbourne Airport (MEL) please remember to collect your entire luggage from the baggage claim area before proceeding to clear customs. There are many car rental companies available at Melbourne airport and those who are not offering desk service at the airport usually offer a free shuttle bus for transfer to their rental car depot. In Australia most rental car companies require the renter or driver to be a minimum of 21 years of age, and drivers under the age of 25 are usually subject to a daily young driver’s surcharge to cover the higher insurance costs.

All renters are required to provide a full driver’s license valid throughout the rental period as well as a credit card in their own name. International drivers may be required to provide an international driver’s license.
