Helpful information when renting an East Coast vehicle at Melbourne Airport
Drivers are required to be a minimum of 21 years of age to drive an East Coast vehicle, and drivers between the ages of 21-24 an underage driver surcharge will apply.
All drivers must provide a current and full driver’s license written in the Roman alphabet or they are also required to provide an IDP. An IDP is an International Driving Permit which is a translation of your license into 9 different languages.
Additional drivers may be added to the rental agreement after the collection of your vehicle through a specific process where a copy of the additional driver’s license is emailed to East Coast for confirmation. The driver may not drive the car before it has been confirmed.

From each of the terminals, you can take our free shuttle bus to reach the rental office which is located at 2 Tarmac Drive,Tullamarine, less than 4.3 Kilometres away from the Terminals. East Coast Car Rentals provides a free transfer Shuttle service from the Airport to their Rental office situated close by. You will receive an SMS text 24 hours prior to your pickup time with an active link to the Shuttle requesting system. To order your Shuttle, click the link in your SMS after you have collected your bags or cleared customs if you are arriving Internationally. Shuttle bus drivers will respond to your request, and you can use the system to also get walking directions on how to get to the shuttle collection point.
